It's Friday, Thank God!

Hi all,

I'm really happy because it's Friday!

This weekend, I'm going to a tur-duc-hen party at my friend Aria's house. I used to go to school with her so I'm looking forward to seeing her!

Our story is over 14000 words, woohoo! It's coming along nicely and I will have the next chapter up today or tomorrow!

Wow I'm Posting Lots This Week!

Hi all,

I've been posting more than I normally do, yay! I really don't have a lot to report except I love Celtic music! I'm right now listening to "South By Sail" by A Celtic Tale. It's a very beautiful song that I'd highly recommend!

I haven't really been working on much in the story department. Hopefully I will have some more up soon!

It's Almost the Weekend!

Last night Aubree and I watched the whole Prince Caspian movie, since I hadn't seen it and she said I should. It wasn't the best movie ever but Caspian was hot, especially his voice!

OK, I am a bad person. I haven't posted any of our story for two reasons.

1. We're adding an extra chapter that Aubree hasn't sent me yet.
2. I still have to edit chapters 9 and 10 before I post.

OK, so at least I have chapter 9 almost edited. Maybe I'm not such a bad person after all!

I finally can post again!

Hi all,

Yesterday, I couldn't post because the internet was down so sorry about that!
Last night, we did readers theater and we got all the way through our play, "The Trial of Socrates" It was very fun! Everyone did very well considering we didn't practice at all! Well, I at least llooked it over yesterday morning!

I also got to take numerous pics of me for a French powerpoint which was really entertaining! Especially when Mr. Tracy the maintenance guy got to be a tandem bike captain in one of them!

Our story is going well, I'm going to post some more in the coming days!

Weekend, Here I Come!

Hi all,
You guessed, it is the weekend and I'm very happy to go home.

On the weekend of Oct. 30, Aubree is coming home with me for a wrock concert hosted by HPANW, featuring the Whomping Willows and some great food cooked by fellow HP fans! Should be fun!

We also got two of our stories planned and decided to do a series with our first story, Captured Hearts called the Children of Myth series. It will have three books and will feature a slew of characters from IC, LOTR and of course, WSSB! Should be loads of fun to write! More updates to come soon!

What I've been up to!

Today is the dedication of the new statues outside Erwin and the ice cream social!! I really want ice cream and I haven't really checked out the statues yet so this will be fun!

I'm So Happy!!!!!!!

If you hadn't guessed already, I'm really happy today!
Why, you ask?
Aubree and I have taken up a story I started and we have ten pages already!
I'll post the summary here so you can gtake a look!
The basic plot is:
What if Eragon and Arya came to the School for the Blind? Much humor and romantic feelings abound!
I really can't believe she liked my idea though! I mean, people think it's wierd but so what?
It's so funn! We already have many parts fabricated such as how the characters tgot to WSSB in the first place and I find it fun playing with them!
The spring concert which I'm not in is tonight, it's streaming on the WSSB website!

Fanfiction: A Beginners Guide

So I bet after my last post, you're wondering what is fanfiction?
Well last summer at the Youth Employment Solutions (YES) Program, I worked at the Seattle
Public Library. One of the things I did there was write a blog post for their teen blog, "Push To Talk"
I'm posting the guide so you aren't confused anymore!

A General Guide to Fanfiction
This guide is here for the more creative of you to help you with your fanfic writing. This is specifically just for fanfiction writing and all the steps that go into it.
List of Terms:
AU: Alternate universeBeta reader: Someone who is fluent in spelling and grammar as well as the fandom of choice who checks over your story before posting.Fic: Shortform of the word fanfiction.Fandom: Whatever you are a fan of, it always falls into a certain group. For example, Harry Potter is a rather large fandom.Cannon: Any fic that has a plot that follows the original story in some way.Fanon: Any fic that has a plot that is fan-created.Original character (OC): A character (usually a girl) that is written to be paired with a certain person that is already in the story. For example, Harry Potter: Severus/oc
If anyone has questions about abbreviations of a specific fandom, please comment!
Fanfic resources
The main website for fanfiction is Fanfiction.net, or more commonly referred to as ffn. Lots of fandoms have what are called lexicons or fanfic indexes with additional resources. Use a search engine like Google and type in your fandom and the word “lexicon” or “fanfic.”
Fanfic recs
A note about ratings: FFN has weird ratings. Most fanfic sites will have the standard ratings (like the ones on movies), but FFN has the following ratings:
k: kidsk plus: kids plusT: teenM: matureMa: mature adult (no longer used)
For the purpose of this blog, I am just going to post stories that have up to a T rating on ffn.
The only fandoms that I read are Twilight, Harry Potter and Les Miserables.

Why I’d recommend this story: I tend to like longer stories because I like when people update and if the story is only 1 chapter long then it doesn’t give them much of a chance to update. I really like how the original character is portrayed. Salena Rivierra struggles with her handicap and the impending doom of the Dark Lord’s rise to power. A good read for those who like canon fics in the Harry Potter universe.

Twilight

Chapter One

It all happened the summer I was thirteen. Amelia Fairbanks (or Madame A) the social worker, was driving me to the home of a family whom I would stay with temporarily until she could find a place for me permanently.

Two years ago, my mother died leaving me and my two-year-old sister Levina who my aunt took in. My aunt was one of those people who wouldn't take anyone into her house who was different or "abnormal" as she called me.

Then without even asking me or letting me have a say in it, Madame A told me that I would be living in a foster situation. Since then, I had been going through family after family for about two years. The reason was that nobody wanted to take care of a blind person. I hated it when people did that. Just because I'm blind doesn't mean I'm stupid. In seventh grade I got pretty decent marks.

"Would you like some gum?" Madame A asked, interrupting my thoughts.

"No thank you." I said quietly. I didn't want her to know that I was nervous. The car turned into the driveway and Madame A and I got out.

She handed me my two suitcases and said, "I'll just drop you off then."

I unfolded my long white cane and made my way to the sidewalk. I was careful not to tread on the low shrubs bordering it. I was more nervous than ever.
