It's Friday, Thank God!

I'm really happy because it's Friday!

This weekend, I'm going to a tur-duc-hen party at my friend Aria's house. I used to go to school with her so I'm looking forward to seeing her!

Our story is over 14000 words, woohoo! It's coming along nicely and I will have the next chapter up today or tomorrow!

wow, It's been awhile!

Hi all!
Like the subject suggests, it's been quite awhile since I last posted. In that time, I went to four parties, tried and failed to write a novel, worked on our story, went to school and decided to rekindle my Les Miserables project. Quite a lot of stuff happened to me in a fairly short time!
I think that pretty much sums it up actually. We're over 12,000 words now with 3 reviews and 4 alerts! That makes me happy! Can you guess what else would make me happy? If people from facebook/ffn actually read this! I'd appreciate at least a comment or something that says you've read this! I want to get more followers too!
So, sorry for rambling on that subject!
I'll hopefully post more this week and keep you informed on the happenings of Abby!

It's Almost Halloween!

Hi all!
Guess what? It's almost Halloween and I actually have a costume! I'll be going as an elf maiden from Mirkwood, Legolas' homeland, yay!
One of the cottage parents, Sandy has sewn my tunic and Pat Phillips is going to dye it green. Aubree gave me a long green cloak to borrow and I have a blonde wig! I'm so excited for this!
I will maybe post pictures on facebook so everyone can see it!

I can't wait for Wednesday night and it's not just because of my awesome costume!Student Council is hosting a Halloween party in Chapman! It features the "Hall of Horrors" and plenty of food/candy! I cant wait!

On Thursday, we're also having a Harvest Dance in Fries Auditorium which also should be fun!

PotC is Awesome!

Hi all,

Today I have a few things to write about. I'm sorry I haven't posted lately, I just didn't have time.

Last night, Aubree and I watched another movie, yay movies! What movie, you ask? Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, that's what! OK, OK, I admited it, I've never seen any of those movies. I think it was because I'm not into pirates, but the kissing at the end was totally worth it! Gotta have a little romance, right?

I have another thing I am thinking about, the lack of readers for this thing. I mean, It's my website for my ffn and facebook pages! Why do I on,ly have three followers then? I hope more people read and comment on this because if they don't, then how do I know who's reading? It makes me sad!

Another thing is that our story is over 10000 words and that is cause for celebration! Woohoo!I should have some more up in the coming days! I hope people review, cause we've only gotten 1 review and 2 alerts!

Wow I'm Posting Lots This Week!

I've been posting more than I normally do, yay! I really don't have a lot to report except I love Celtic music! I'm right now listening to "South By Sail" by A Celtic Tale. It's a very beautiful song that I'd highly recommend!

I can Finally Post Again!

Hi all,

Internet wasn't working so I couldn't post yesterday. If I had, you would've heard about how I got four hours of sleep, how I think I am getting sick and how my laptop didn't work.

Turns out the laptop works when the power cord is attached and doesn't even turn on otherwise. I need to track down Sheri Hahn and see if she can fix it!

I've also been working on a side story about the LOTR musical cast. It's sort of going well but my muse is dormant at the moment.

I've been reading Eldest by Christopher Paolini and am enjoying it immensely! I am on page 201 in Braill and plan on reading more soon!

I can't say that for our story though at this time. I still have to edit chapters and get more from Aubree. Will keep you informed!

That's about it I think. Now nobody will have an excuse to comment three times asking where I am!

It's Almost the Weekend!

Hi

Last night Aubree and I watched the whole Prince Caspian movie, since I hadn't seen it and she said I should. It wasn't the best movie ever but Caspian was hot, especially his voice!

OK, I am a bad person. I haven't posted any of our story for two reasons.

1. We're adding an extra chapter that Aubree hasn't sent me yet.
2. I still have to edit chapters 9 and 10 before I post.

OK, so at least I have chapter 9 almost edited. Maybe I'm not such a bad person after all!

I finally can post again!

Hi all,

Yesterday, I couldn't post because the internet was down so sorry about that!
Last night, we did readers theater and we got all the way through our play, "The Trial of Socrates" It was very fun! Everyone did very well considering we didn't practice at all! Well, I at least llooked it over yesterday morning!

I also got to take numerous pics of me for a French powerpoint which was really entertaining! Especially when Mr. Tracy the maintenance guy got to be a tandem bike captain in one of them!

Our story is going well, I'm going to post some more in the coming days!

I'm so Sorry!

Hi all,

I'm so sorry I haven't updated in forever! It's just that we haven't done blogs for awhile and I've been doing other things.


Yesterday, there was a Student VS Staff Golball game which the students won! It was pretty boring, especially since Aubree couldn't tell who was playing half the time because of where we sat.

Last night, I had a sing-LOTR-the-musical marathon with Aubree and Sara! We kept getting interrupted, but we managed to get through the entire recording! Our best songs were the solos and Lothlorien! It was fun!!!!!

Speaking of Sara, she's leaving because she got her diploma! I'm happy for her and I hope she goes on to major in something cool!

I still haven't googled the reason why the 8sinks song is always sent out with the BrailleNotes but I'll get around to it!

it's Tuesday and I'm just sitting here!

Hi all,
I must be iether very bored or must have too much time on my hands or both because I love thinking up entertaining subject lines! OK OK, I'm done.

Yesterday, Jacki told me about the famous BrailleNote file called 8sinks. It's this Scottish drinking song and is freaking hillarious! I will play it for some people this weekend, you know who you are!

Last night, I did Reader's Theater with Ms. Corso who is mine andd Aubree's French teacher. We had four plays to chose from. The first three Aubree and I weren't impressed with simply because they are desinged forr younger readers and last time I checked, I am an older reader thank you very much!

The fourth play, however, was about the trial of Socrates which is the one we all voted on. I can't wait because I want to be Anthipe!

I'm too Lazy to think of a Subject Line!

Hi all,
I officially have 3 followers and two friends on here! Thanks everyone who take an interest in my blog!

This morning was wierd because Valdine woke everyone up an hour early and didn't make us breakfast. We also noticed she was slurring her words and that she didn't sound like her usual self. Jacki thought she was playing a rather elaborate joke until she made one of the other girls, Katie go a half hour early to school. So Ms. Bonnie C. who I work with in the coffee shop and who comes to the cottage in the morning called an ambulance and the parimetics took Valdine to the hospital. The Chapman girls had aquick meeting with DR. Stenehjem about it. So when I say my morning started off with a bang, you know why.

So that's about all the excitement for one post, don't you think? The only other thing I have to say is that the FOTR Prologue, "Concerning Hobbits and Other Such Matters" is the longest prologue I've ever read!

Weekend, Here I Come!

Hi all,
You guessed, it is the weekend and I'm very happy to go home.

On the weekend of Oct. 30, Aubree is coming home with me for a wrock concert hosted by HPANW, featuring the Whomping Willows and some great food cooked by fellow HP fans! Should be fun!

We also got two of our stories planned and decided to do a series with our first story, Captured Hearts called the Children of Myth series. It will have three books and will feature a slew of characters from IC, LOTR and of course, WSSB! Should be loads of fun to write! More updates to come soon!

Weekend, Yay!

Hi all,
The weekend is upon us! Sorry, been reading a little too much LOTR fanfiction!
I have picked my topic for my senior paper:
The History of Audio Production and how to produce a CD
I am pretty excited about this because it's about something I love to do.
I'm also doing a GOALS assignment on advocacy which involves researching my various conditions. That should prove to be at least somewhat interesting...
I am enjoying hanging out with Sara and Jacki. It's been fun because Sara is a major theater freak like me and Jacki is just plain funny and cool to talk to!
I can't wait for Aubree to come back on Sunday because she is going to flip when I tell her what music I've downloaded.

First Week News!

Hi all,
Just wanted to update you on the happenings of my first week at WSSB!
I've been slowly getting into the swing of things. Here are the highlights of my schedule:
I work at the cofee shop, so therefor my parents have been calling me "Abby the Barista" Not that it's annoying, but I just think it's a little stupid.
I have GOALS with Ms. Langley which is, as far as I can tell, going to be at least entertaining...
I also have math with "Teacher in a box" as Tyler has dubbed our new teacher Ms. Lowell.
In other news, Sara Cadwell from YES II is at school this year and I am making it my goal to make her feel welcome. It might be futile since she is homesick quite a lot, but I'm at least trying. That's all I can really do anyway.
Aubree is supposedly coming next week and I'm very eager to continue on our story!
I don't have anything else to report I'm afraid other than I'm finally reading the LOTR books! More on that later.

Wow!

Hi all,
I really needed to update this thing!
First of all, I have had one of the most eventfull summers of my life!
I will list the most important things that have happened to me this summer!
Warning, this won't be in chronilogical order!
a. I went to YES for the second time and had loads of fun. My top three memories are going to the HP Alliance live podcast, spending five hours making cauldron cakes for said podcast which included going to Safeway and almost not making it back on account of the cart wheel kept falling off! But they got eaten by a bunch of very enthusiastic HP fans so this was worth it! The best part of all of this was that all the friends I got to go loved it! Enough to devote the whole car ride back for talk about how we’re going to Leaky Con 2011 and selling our creations! The third and final memory is Orcas Island! It was loads of fun the second time cause I was in a kayak with Robert who wanted to spontaneously go on kelp chases! We got rained on. Like Michigan rained on which is a huge thunderstorm! Everyone’s, including my stuff got soaked!
b. The next big thing I did this summer was during YES so I had to leave for ten days. That thing is DO-IT, Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, Technology through the UW. I am writing on the laptop they gave me along with an embosser, scanner and printer! I met many new friends there and look forward to coming back next year! The best part was some of us decided to have a party in my room, fun times!
c. The last thing I did was finally, after three years, go back to Michigan with my dad and see my Grandpa and some friends. I loved being back, but by the end of my trip, I was so glad to be home again.\
So, just thought I'd update yall on what's going on!

Last Week at WSSB

Hi.
I'm sorry to say that it's the last week I'll be at WSSB. So I probably won't be writing in this often. I'm really scared that I won't pass junior year cause I have two big projects I'm supposed to be working on and I really don't iknow what to do with them. Hopefuly, I can get it figured out.

On Wednesday, there's a talent show and I'll be singing in it! I'm super excited for this fun event! On Thursday, the high schoolers are going to an amusement park in Portland! I'm going to hang out with Aubree, Lucine and Desirree that day! Should be fun!
Once again, I will edegt the list of YES participants to include Desie! It will be so awesome this summer with all of my friends!

It's so funn! We already have many parts fabricated such as how the characters tgot to WSSB in the first place and I find it fun playing with them!
The spring concert which I'm not in is tonight, it's streaming on the WSSB website!

A Much Needed Update

Hi everyone!
Firstly, sorry for not posting in so long! Last week we had English three days because of the career fair and track meet. The career fair was fun but the track meet sucked cause they forgot to put me in any of the heats and so I missed half of the events I signed up for. I also fell during the 200 but quickly got back up. I luckily wasn't injured.
I'm going to update my post with all of the people who are going to YES this summer. Speaking of YES, I saw lots of returning YES-ers at the events last week! It was really fun seeing katie who I haven't seen since last summer.
This week has been fun. Last night, a bunch of the students went outside and made funny sounds with balloons provided by Isreal. It was funny cause Li Qin could make them bark like a seal!
I'm almost done with Eragon! Woohoo! I was really surprised at the twists and turns that I wasn't expecting!
I have a lot to do this week in regards to technology. I have to call Do-IT and see what programs I'm actually getting installed on my laptop for the embosser and scanner. I also to get a new cane before I leave!
Wow, this is a long post!

Updates

Hi.
I'm going to update you on what happened this week.
I got sick and my dad had to drive six hours from Seattle to Vancouver to pick me up. I didn't get to go to the prom because of that.
I was too sick to go to my old school's musical also.
On Saturday, I went with my dad to the Wizardrockumentary which sucked because they didn't put any good music in it!
Did I mention I like wizardrock or wrock, Harry Potter inspired music? Don't think so!

What I Did Yesterday!

Hi all!
Yesterday, I got to participate in the research phase of a new GPS system that uses echo location to operate. It was awesome! It was very detailed and told you helpfull things like if there was an object versus a pedestrian.
The guy testing it was from the Netherlands which I thought was cool!
I also played Bingo at Hall Cottage last night and won a KitKat bar and some Twix! Yay chocolate!
I'm really liking Eragon and I'm only on page 23!

It's Monday!

It's Monday and I have some updates for yall!
I'm going to the prom!!!!!!!!!!
That's right, I'm actually going to something this school puts on!
I also apparently like exclaimation marks!!!!!!
Friday, I went to the DO-IT informational meeting/pizza party. I found out two things:
1. I suck at Uno Attack. I almost won, but at the last minute , one of the people I was playing with switched hands and I ended up losing!
2. I get loads of equipment through this program! I get a laptop with JAWS, a scanner and an embosser. The best part is that they're on long-term loan. In other words, I get to keep them until they break or I want something better!
I'm so excited about this! I can't wait for June when I can get all of it!

Update Time!

Hi!
Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I usually post in English class but Mrs. Tate didn't have us post yesterday.
I got my facebook working after a week of it saying I had to get a security check and I'm very happy about that! I have been hanging out with lots of people this week. Its been fun getting music from Jackie, talking about fanfiction with Desirree and Aubree and getting smoothies/iced coffee from Jillian!
Also last night, one of the girls in Chapman, Emily said the printer was broken when I knew for a fact it wasn't. Wierd!

Gym Pool Party!

Hi all!
Today, the school opened its new gym and I got to go swimming in a salt water pool! There were lots of people, maybe too many, in the pool and I felt kind of crouded. They played the typical classic music, and afterwords, the staff gave us snacks.
Overall, it was rather fun, and I'm very much looking forward to swimming in it!

Fanfiction: A Beginners Guide

So I bet after my last post, you're wondering what is fanfiction?
Well last summer at the Youth Employment Solutions (YES) Program, I worked at the Seattle
Public Library. One of the things I did there was write a blog post for their teen blog, "Push To Talk"
I'm posting the guide so you aren't confused anymore!

A General Guide to Fanfiction
This guide is here for the more creative of you to help you with your fanfic writing. This is specifically just for fanfiction writing and all the steps that go into it.
List of Terms:
AU: Alternate universeBeta reader: Someone who is fluent in spelling and grammar as well as the fandom of choice who checks over your story before posting.Fic: Shortform of the word fanfiction.Fandom: Whatever you are a fan of, it always falls into a certain group. For example, Harry Potter is a rather large fandom.Cannon: Any fic that has a plot that follows the original story in some way.Fanon: Any fic that has a plot that is fan-created.Original character (OC): A character (usually a girl) that is written to be paired with a certain person that is already in the story. For example, Harry Potter: Severus/oc
If anyone has questions about abbreviations of a specific fandom, please comment!
Fanfic resources
The main website for fanfiction is Fanfiction.net, or more commonly referred to as ffn. Lots of fandoms have what are called lexicons or fanfic indexes with additional resources. Use a search engine like Google and type in your fandom and the word “lexicon” or “fanfic.”

A note about ratings: FFN has weird ratings. Most fanfic sites will have the standard ratings (like the ones on movies), but FFN has the following ratings:

For the purpose of this blog, I am just going to post stories that have up to a T rating on ffn.
The only fandoms that I read are Twilight, Harry Potter and Les Miserables.

A good read for those who like canon fics in the Harry Potter universe.

Chapter One

It all happened the summer I was thirteen. Amelia Fairbanks (or Madame A) the social worker, was driving me to the home of a family whom I would stay with temporarily until she could find a place for me permanently.

Two years ago, my mother died leaving me and my two-year-old sister Levina who my aunt took in. My aunt was one of those people who wouldn't take anyone into her house who was different or "abnormal" as she called me.

Then without even asking me or letting me have a say in it, Madame A told me that I would be living in a foster situation. Since then, I had been going through family after family for about two years. The reason was that nobody wanted to take care of a blind person. I hated it when people did that. Just because I'm blind doesn't mean I'm stupid. In seventh grade I got pretty decent marks.

"Would you like some gum?" Madame A asked, interrupting my thoughts.

"No thank you." I said quietly. I didn't want her to know that I was nervous. The car turned into the driveway and Madame A and I got out.

She handed me my two suitcases and said, "I'll just drop you off then."

I unfolded my long white cane and made my way to the sidewalk. I was careful not to tread on the low shrubs bordering it. I was more nervous than ever.
